Behaviour in vulcanization

NAFTONOX 2246 is an outstanding non-staining and non-spotting antioxidant based on steric hindered, alkyiated bisphenols. In the phenol group, NAFTONOX 2246 is the most efficient antioxidant, especially in sulphur cured goods. lt may be used for all kinds of rubber such as NR, IR, SBR, CR, NBR and their latices.

Due to its low volatility, NAFTONOX 2246 is an excellent long term stabilizer for natural rubber and all types of synthetic rubbers and their latices.

It is one of the most commonly used and most efficient antioxidants for white, light-coloured and transparent vulcanizates. In light coloured vulcanizates NAFTONOX 2246 hinders the crazing effect.

Neither contact staining non corona effects were to be observed in materials containing NAFTONOX 2246 in contact with other materials. Purely white vulcanizates containing NAFTONOX 2246 turn faintly pink under prolonged exposure to light. This phenomena, however, is not noticeable in light coloured finished articles.

NAFTONOX 2246 does neither bloom non affect the mechanical properties of vulcanizates.

It affords some protection from copper and manganese poisoning.

Typical fields of application

White, transparent and coloured rubber goods, e.g. tubes, profiles, toys, bathing articles, etc. Latex produets, e.g. carpet backing, rubber thread, latex foam, dipping articies, etc.

Hot melt formulations on the basis of EAM or EVA, thermopiastic rubber and polyaminoamides.

Dosage

For rubber compounds the dosage generally recommended is 0.5- 2.0 phr, but smaller dosages of 0.2 - 0.5 phr already show a visibie antiageing effect.

For latex it should be 0.5 - 1.0 phr.
