Behaviour in Vulcanization

NAFTOCIT Mi 12 C is an outstanding ultra accelerator for polychioroprene (CR), and this as well for the mercaptan as for the sulphur-modified types.

This accelerator has an optimum effect on the vulcanization reaction. Extremely high quality vulcanizates are produced with high strength properties and excelient compression set. In chloroprene latices NAFTOCIT Mi 12 C is a very effective accelerator too.

The product is also used in the processing of chlorosulphonated polyethyiene (CSM) and in epichloro-hydrine rubber (CO, ECO).

As NAFTOCIT Mi 12 C is only fully effective at temperatures above 120 °C, the processing of solid rubber compounds incorporating this accelerator is very safe and reliable. No discoloration of vulcanizates is produced.

In diene rubbers the thioureas are used as low sulphur donor and for thiuram cures. Here ETU (and NAFTOCIT DPTU) serve very effectively as secondary accelerators.

The onset of cure of CR compounds containing Naftocit Mi 12 can be retarded with thiurams and particularly with NAFTOCIT MBTS.

NAFTOCIT Mi 12 cannot be used for the production of food articles.

Typical fields of application

Cylinders, profiles, tubes, cable coverings, transmission lines, sealants, linings, floor coverings, white and light coloured articies, glues, coatings, dipped products.

Dosage

For CR technical articles and cables:
0.5 - 1.5 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT Mi 12 in combination with 4 phr (by wt.) MgO, 5 phr (by wt.) ZnO and 0 - 1 phr (by wt.) sulphur.

Very fast curing:
1.0 - 1.5 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT Mi 12 in combination with 1 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT DETU and 0 - 0.8 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT Thiuram 16 or 1 - 1.5 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT Mi 12 and 1 - 1.5 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT DPTU.

For SBR (light coloured fillers; fast curing, heat resistant):
0.4 - 1.0 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT Mi 12 in combination with 2.5 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT Thiuram 16 and 0.1 phr (by wt.) sulphur

For EPOM:
0.5 - 1.0 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT Mi 12 in combination with 1.5 phr (by wt.) sulphur, 0.5 - 1.5 phr (by wt.)

NAFTOCIT MBT:
0.5 - 2.5 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT Di 13 (ZDBC) and 0.5 - 1.5 phr (by wt.) NAFTOCIT Thiuram 16 or TMTM.
